UCU Canons pulled themselves together after the poor performance against KIU Titans on Sunday to comprehensively defeat UPDF Tomahawks on Wednesday night.

Led by skipper Jonathan Egau who did a little bit of everything, Canons broke away in the second and third quarter after a close opening period to defeat Tomahawks 74-50 at YMCA.

In a game that was always going to have one winner, shooting guard Steven Wundi put behind his struggle against KIU and buried his first couple of attempts from distance to give UCU a quick 6-0 lead before adding another later in a frame the university side edged 22-19.

In the next couple of quarters, Canons turned up the heat up a little on the defensive end limiting UPDF to 4 and 5 points in the second and third quarter respectively as they scored 10 and 17 on the other end.

Canons (3-3) kept the foot on the pedal in the final quarter and led by as many as 30 points before loosening up a little but eventually won by 24 points.

Egau led the charge with 21 points, 11 points and 6 assists while Wundi connected on 6-of-7 from down town for game high 24 points.

Henry Okoth matched game high 24 points to go with 6 rebounds in a losing effort for Tomahawks (1-4). Felix Mukunzi scored 14 points and picked 9 rebounds.
