Paul Mucureezi has vowed to fight for a place on Uganda Cranes team that is preparing to face South Sudan in the 2018 CHAN qualifiers.
The midfielder is one of the seven KCCA players summoned by Coach Mulitin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic to beef up squad ahead of the Friday July 14 tie in Juba.
“It’s always savoring to be called for national duty,” Mucureezi told Kawowo Sports on learning he has been summoned. “Next is to fight for a place on the team and I vow to do that,” he added.
Once a favourite at Lugogo, the versatile attacker who can play as a winger, wing back and behind the lead the striker has fallen in the pecking order in Mike Mutebi’s team.
He has mainly been used as a substitute for KCCA’s last games in the season but rarely disappoints whether off the bench or as a starter.
Mucureezi was last summoned to the national team in December last year as the Cranes prepared for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations finals but failed to make the cut.
CHAN, a competition for locally based players across the continent provides a better chance like Mucureezi to showcase his talent.
