Newly promoted Uganda Premier League club, Masavu F.C has been sold to the former FUFA finance treasurer, Anthony Kimuli.
The club, which attained promotion to the top flight in May has been reportedly sold at Shs100M.
This follows months of negotiations between Masavu management and the prospective buyers.
Since June, majority share holder and founder of Masavu Football Club, Tonny Ssozi has been looking for buyers.
Initially, Ssozi had secured a partner, African Gold Refineries whose task among others was to ensure remuneration of players, dress up the team as well as fence and maintain the Works stadium found in the heart of Entebbe Municipality.
He then contacted the Entebbe Municipality Council authorities for a possible partnership although the deal failed to materialize.
There were disagreements with the minority share holder Edward Jingo (biological brother) with 30 percent shares.
Jingo resisted the sale of the club on grounds that partners and sponsors could be secured to push the club ahead.
According to the operations manager, Mohammed Katiti, the feat of players and officials remains unknown at large.
“We do not know what to do now. We hear (in rumours) that the club has been sold. Training was supposed to start on Monday at Katabi gombolola grounds,” Katiti, who is also a local security agent within Entebbe said.
It is reported that Alex Isabirye will take over as head coach with Ivan Kakembo as the Chief Executive Officer of the club under the new management.
About the buyer
Anthony Kimuli is a tycoon whose love for football remains unrivaled. He has been bankrolling the Entebbe Football Club (former Entebbe Young) since 1998 when he took over the patron role of the club from former Entebbe mayor Stephen Kabuye.
He served as FUFA Finance Director during the entire epoch of Lawrence Mulindwa (eight years).
Kimuli is a shrewd administrator albeit his busy schedule with the Ministry of Finance.
