When striker Paddy Tebusweke was deemed as excess baggage at Express Football Club, he resorted to the famous ‘drawing board’ strategy – intensified training.
Today, ‘Tebu’ as he is fondly known is smiling ear to ear after signing a lucrative deal in the Zambia Premier League.
Tebusweke signed a two year deal at Mufulira Wanderers Football Club, a top flight side in Zambia.
“I am so happy that I am been able to get employed once again. Football is about belief and working hard. Special credit to my agent Ronnie Santos. He has also done and sacrificed a lot for me,” the orthodox center forward told Kawowo Sports.
After impressing on his first day at the club with two great strikes, management at the club agreed to sign the forward.
Before joining Express, Tebu was in Sweden, plying his trade with country’s 5th division sides.
He has also previously played at the famous Kampala Kids League (KKL) where he scored goals for fun in the Tivoli and Gothia tournaments.
At KKL, he topped the scoring charts for years in the U-15 and U-16 age competitions, scoring against youth sides of Barcelona, FC Copenhagen, Ajax Amsterdam, West Ham, West Bromich, Charlton Athletic, Cruz Azul (Mexico) and many others.
In Zambia, he joins a bandwagon of Ugandans. Striker Davis Kasirye recently penned a deal at Zesco United.
Another center forward Herman Nteza Wasswa and left back Joseph Ochaya are with Lusaka Dynamos.
Defender Isaac Isinde plays at Buildcon whilst Jimmy Bageya is still contracted at NAPSA Stars despite rumors of his reported departure.
Two other Ugandans Minaya Ramola Osama and Manco Kaweesa left last weekend for trial stints with Zanaco.
