Uganda Cranes’ holding midfielder Ivan ‘Kojja’ Ntege had a largely impressive showing in first appearance for the reigning Botswana Premier League champions, Township Rollers on Saturday.

A ten man Township Rollers side succumbed to a late-late equalizer to Kaizer Chiefs as the two sides played out a 1-1 draw at the Francistown Sports Complex in a friendly.

Boy Segolame gave the home side the lead three minutes after the opening half an hour.

Kaizer Chiefs staged a gallant fight to find the equalizer a minute to full time when George Lebese’s hard hit strike from the right wing beat Keeagile Kgosipula in the goal posts for the two clubs to share the spoils.

A minute before the equalizer, the home side’s Motsholetsi Sikele was red carded for non-sporting conduct to grant the visitors numerical advantage.

Uganda Cranes anchorman Ntege featured prominently for the entire duration of the match with his customary forward and square passes.

As usual, Ntege was at his best in the execution of the timely tackles and blocks with a balance for defence and attack.

His agent Musa Atagenda predicts quick acclimatization of the hard working box to box midfielder.

“Ntege started on a strong footing. From the technical team to the fans, everyone loved his style of play and the commitment to the game. We hope for the best in Botswana,” Atagenda told Kawowo Sports.

He was also highly praised by the club website in the aftermath of the game.

According to www.rollersfc.com, Ntege was among the star players from the match;

Uganda born central defensive midfield anchor Ivan Ntege was impressive in midfield anchor role, disturbing the Chiefs midfield of Willard Katsande, George Maluleka, Hendrick Eikstein and George Lebese from combining.

Ntege left Uganda at the start of July after seeing out his contract with the reigning Uganda Premier League champions, KCCA Football Club.

He is expected to play an integral role for Township Rollers in the quest for their 16th league crown as well as on the continent in the CAF Champions League.
