The fifth round of the National motocross championship at the Motosports Arena in Busiika was all about proving riders stamping their authority in the categories. Maxime Van Pee and Fortune Sentamu proved they were unmatched on Sunday after their sublime performances taking the day’s highlights.
Van Pee gave his competitors a head start of over 30 seconds in all heats.
In the second heat after the gates opened, he took a moment to take a selfie with his sponsors before he chased his counterparts. He eventually managed to catch up with them with ease to top the race.

Fortune Sentamu was also at the top of his game in the MX85 class. He attempted Van Pee’s stunt in the last heat, giving his competitors a head start. He too would race to finish top of all heats.
Both Van Pee and Sentamu maintained their lead in the MX1 and MX85 class respectively.
Fatuh Kiggundu also maintained his MX2 lead after winning all the three heats while Ali Omar Yasser’s performance was rejuvenated with a new bike. He won all the heats in the MX125 class.

MX65 had a close competition with Akena Obote and Malcom Lubega sharing the three heats. Lubega topped in Heat two while Akena took heats one and three to win Sunday’s category race.
The Junior’s class also produced some highlights especially in the MX50 class. Gift Sebuguzi and Isabella Blick were neck and neck throughout the race. At the end, it was Sebuguzi at the top with two heat wins while Isabella in second followed by Malcom Omonding.
William Blick had a relaxed race after his rival Miguel Katende registering a bad day in office. Blick swept all the three heats followed by Pascal Kasozi while Miguel Katende settled for third overall.
Sunday’s event was used to gauge the riders who will represent Uganda at the Motocross of Africa championship next month in Botswana.
MX round five MX1 class. Maxime Van Pee gave them a head start, took a selfie with his sponsors and managed to catch up on them to take the lead.
