As we get to the business end of the ladies T20 League, Tornado B and Pioneer will be looking to join Olila in the semifinals this weekend when they take on KICC and Jinja SS respectively.
Olila was the 1st team to make the semis after defeating KICC in both games.
Tornado B who are having a trend of win one and lose one in the same day which they will be looking to change. They will need both wins against a KICC side rooted at the bottom of the log.
Despite of boasting of seasoned players as Mary Nanderenge and Franklin Najjumba, KICC has failed to sparkle in the short format of the game but they have Kenyan national team players that will make it hard for Tornado B.
Tornado B Captain Naomi Kayondo says:
We have had a bits and pieces T20 campaign winning one and losing one on match days but we want both wins against KICC on Saturday.
Pioneer who lie second on the table will be looking to maintain that position by avoiding loss to Jinja SS. The school girls of Jinja are a very tough T20 side with Captain Stephanie Nampiina and Rita Musamali all very capable all rounders.
However, Pioneer have the top run getter of the league – Kenyan international Quenntor Abel in their side and inspirational captain Barbara Mukankusi is a doubt because of maternity leave but she hasn’t ruled herself out of the tie.
If Pioneer can at least win one of the games they will be assured of a place in the semis and Mukankusi expects the side to continue with the momentum.
I expect the same momentum from the past games especially in batting. Mostly we got to win in order to seal our place in the semi-finals. Jinja is never an easy side but we shall do our best.
In the only Division 2 game Premier playing as Ndejje SS will take on JACC. A match of equals in terms of strength and this should be good for the school girls to enjoy themselves.
