Rhulani Mokwena has been appointed as assistant coach to Mulitin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic at Orlando Pirates.

This was revealed by the club on its official website on Thursday afternoon.

“Orlando Pirates Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Rhulani Mokwena as Assistant Coach…,” read part of the statement.

Mokwena, formerly at reigning African champions Mamelodi Sundowns was recommended by the former Uganda Cranes and SC Villa coach and the Serb is delighted to have him join his backroom staff.

Rhulani’s approach to tasks is done in a commitment that is noteworthy. I am pleased that he accepted the challenge.

Mokwena, who leaves Sundowns with a lot of experience, thanked the Brazilians for allowing him take up the opportunity.

I thank the President Mr Patrice Motsepe and the coach Pitso Mosimane for not only providing me with an opportunity; I thank them for the grace with which they accepted and supported my acceptance of the Orlando Pirates challenge.

Just last week, Orlando Pirates let go of their skipper Oupa Manyisa to Sundowns.
