Justin Shonga scored a brace as Zambia defeated South Africa 2-0 in the return leg of the CHAN qualifiers final round at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola on Saturday.
Shonga’s goals came in the final 10 minutes of the second half as the Chipolopolo sealed the ticket to the 2018 edition in Kenya.
This is the second consecutive and third appearance in the history of the competition designed exclusively for footballers playing in their domestic leagues.
Zambia thus qualifies 4-2 on aggregate. The first leg ended in a 2-all draw.
Shonga scored in the 80th minute before adding the second three minutes later from close range.
The Chipolopolo finished third at the inaugural edition in 2009 in Cote d’Ivoire.
The final tournament will take place from 12 January to 4 February 2018 in Kenya.
