Uganda Cranes survived the Randa scare to qualify for the 2018 Championship of African Nations despite losing 2-0 at Nyamirambo.

Cranes defended for their lives after falling behind to first half goals from Yannick Mukunzi and Thierry Manzi in the return leg of the final round of qualifiers to advance to the final tournament 3-2 on aggregate.

And former coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojević – now in charge of Orland Pirates – congratulated the boys after Orlando Pirates 1-0 win over Chipa United their opening game of the Premier Soccer League.

The 2018 Chan tournament that will be staged in Kenya will mark Uganda’s fourth successive appearance since the inception of the competition designed for locally based players.

In all the three tournaments Uganda has competed in, the Cranes have not played their way out of the groups.
