Abdallah Mubiru has named Martin Mpuuga as new captain of Police FC replacing Ben Ocen.

The former Maroons and SC Victoria University defender will be deputized by midfielder Rahmat Ssenfuka and striker Hood Kaweesa as first and second assistants respectively.

“His leadership qualities and experience is the reason he will be our captain,” head coach Abdallah Mubiru said.

Mpuuga’s leadership qualities have seen him skipper at his previous clubs; Maroons and SC Victoria University.

At SCVU, he captained the side to two trophies – the Uganda Cup and the Nile Basin CECAFA Cup.

Winning run ended

Meanwhile, Police’s winning run in the pre-season friendly matches has come to an end with a barren stalemate with URA FC at Kibuli SS lower pitch.

The Cops had before Wednesday had won against Kansanga United (4-2), Ntinda United (1-0), St. Mary’s Kitende SS (5-1), Bul FC (1-0) and KCCA (3-0).
