Uganda Premier league reigning champions Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) football club held Rwanda’s APR to a one all draw at the Stade De Kigali in Nyamirambo, Kigali during an international club friendly match on Friday.
Martin Twizerimana gave the visitors a half time lead.
Tennager Mustapha Kizza found the equalizer in the 62nd minute of the second half of fairly attended game, both clubs preparing for the new season.
The 12 time Uganda league champions fielded largely a second fiddle side but still managed to earn a point from the match.
Six players with the Uganda Cranes team currently preparing for the FIFA 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Egypt did not travel for the match.
These are; goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan, defenders Isaac Muleme, Paul Musamali, midfielder Muzamiru Mutyaba as well as forwards Paul Mucureezi and Derrick Nsibambi.
However, the side that gaffer Mike Hillary Mutebi entrusted fought gallantly to salvage at least a point and return home with heads up.
Experienced players as Habibu Kavuma, Isaac Kirabira, Dennis Okot, goalie Charles Lukwago, newly signed Allan Oryek, Dennis Rukundo offered the back up cover for the youthful blend as Filbert Obenchan, Ibrahim Wamani and the goal hero Kizza.
The friendly match had followed an earlier build up played away to Mbarara City at Kakyeeka stadium which ended in a goal-less draw.
KCCA will play in the FUFA Super Cup on the 9th September 2017 against Paidha Black Angels.
They open up their league defence with a home duel against friendly-foes Maroons at their Lugogo fortress.
