Emmanuel Arnold Okwi admitted he hasn’t scored enough goals for the national team and says he targets more.
The Simba SC forward scored the winning goal against Egypt on Saturday at Namboole to take his tally for the national team in the Afcon/World Cup qualifiers to four.
“It’s true, I haven’t scored enough in qualifiers (Afcon & World Cup),” he told Kawowo Sports. “The target is to get on the score sheet as many times as possible and help the team achieve,” he added.
On scoring the winner against the seven-time African champions, Okwi couldn’t hide his glee.
As a forward, it’s exciting to hit the back of the net and to score such an important goal and help the team is very good for me.
His coach Moses Basena also had kind words for the striker who was left out of the team that played at the Africa Nations Cup in Gabon early this year.
We all know what he (Okwi) can offer and he has proved it. He has worked his way back into the team and we hope to have as many performances as this.
Okwi and company will be keen to pick at least a point in Alexandria on Tuesday when the two teams meet again.
