Term it a baptism of fire for Express Football Club newly appointed head coach Douglas Bamwenyana.

The Red Eagles were shocked 1-0 by league debutants Mbarara City at Kakyeka stadium on Saturday before a capacity and lively crowd.

Burundian import Pitis Berenge scored the lone strike on the day, 18 minutes to full time.

Either sides had virtually struggled to create goal scoring opportunities.

Express now remains winless in two matches after the opening day goalless draw with Kirinya-Jinja S.S at Wakulukuku.

Meanwhile, Mbarara City is now on 4 points.

They are hosting their next match against Bright Stars while Express will be away to UPPF in Bombo.
