Uganda will be represented by FUFA Big league side Paidha Black Angels and reigning Uganda Premier league as well as Uganda Cup champions Kampala Capital City Authority football clubs in the 2018 CAF confederation and champions league tournaments respectively.

The development was duly confirmed by the 15th FUFA Executive committee meeting that convened at FUFA House in Mengo.

A FUFA statement signed by the Chief  Executive Officer (CEO), Edgar Watson reads;

League winners Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) FC will represent the country in the CAF Champions league in 2018. Paidha Black Angels FC shall represent Uganda in the CAF Confederation Cup

For starters, the CAF Champions league slot is taken by the league winner and usually, the CAF Confederation place is occupied by the Uganda Cup champion.

KCCA won a double and can not play in the two championships. Paidha Black Angels, the losing finalists in the 2016/17 FUFA Uganda Cup are therefore best suited to play in the CAF Confederation cup.

In case of failure for Paidha Black Angels to take up the opportunity, either Express and Sadolin Paints who reached the semi-finals of the FUFA Uganda Cup shall be on stand-by.

This year, Vipers represented Uganda in the confederation cup whilst KCCA played in the CAF Champions league before they were relegated to the confederation bracket after reaching the second round and losing to South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns.

Meanwhile, Paidha Black Angels recently suspended their head coach Hassan Ali Kheri over what they termed as ‘poor player management’ prior to their disappointing 3-0 loss to KCCA in the traditional curtain raiser of the FUFA Super Cup.

KCCA comfortably won the match at Wankulukuku by a 3 goals margin, with the strikes coming from new signings Patrick Kaddu, Tito Okello and exciting youngster Allan Okello.
