Buddo Secondary School director Lawrence Matovu Muwonge has joined the ever swelling list of football players’ intermediaries.

The veteran school administrator became the 10th football player intermediary after fulfilling the bare minimum requirements of $ 11000 (registration and licence fees).

Muwonge is the 10th player intermediary to be registered this year with Identification number 862511001.

In an exclusive interview with Kawowo Sports on Thursday, an excited Muwonge expressed the desire to serve the beautiful game by scouting and tapping quality players.

For a long time, I have been part of the football development process by identifying and supporting raw talents from scratches.

I want to further help the football players by identifying for them the potential markets domestically and elsewhere.

Muwonge’s love for sports particularly football is unrivaled with more than 100 sports related bursaries to students in all classes.

He thus becomes the 10th football intermediary to be duly registered this year.

Earlier this year, former Uganda Cranes international Mike Sulaiman Mutyaba, Tushar Ruparelia, Daniel Kisseka Ntale and lately Fred Ronald ‘Ronnie Santos’ Niwagira Mwine were registered as intermediaries.

In 2016, five people were registered and these included; Gibby Kalule, Musa Atagenda Ssebulime, Geofrey Solo Kayemba, Chadi Ezzeddine and Isaac Mwesigwa.

Other intermediaries as Brian Masembe, Livingstone Kyobe, Nasser Mulindwa, Tony Awori, Hon. Alintuma Nsambu and David Tigawalana are yet to renew their licences.

A football player intermediary is one responsible for providing the necessary linkage for the player (client) in as far as securing employment is concerned.

In the modern setting, he is one tasked to manage the player in all aspects of life to ensure that he is well kept in line of duty.

He or she could in this case take the role of a counselor, finance manager, parent.

There is that capacity to hire legal, accounting services for the client for effective representation.

The most agents, by far, come from Italy. Italians have 949 registered football player’s agents.
