KIU Titans avenged their first round loss to Warriors by defeating the Kyambogo based side 80-69 on Friday night at Lugogo Indoor Stadium.

Titans started the game with vigor taking the game to Warriors. Samuel Agutu opened the scoring before Michael Bwanga connected from deep in succession and Titans assumed a quick double digit lead.

However, after Syrus Kiviiri getting into foul trouble, Warriors re-grouped and trailed by just 3 points (17-21) and the end of the period.

KIU returned for the second quarter with energy and Geoffrey Soro opened the scoring from close range before Bwanga, Chris Omanye and Sudi Ulanga hit from downtown as the Kansanga side restored the double digit lead.

Philip Ameny tormented KIU’s interior to drag Warriors back into the contest as they trailed by 3 points (35-38) heading into the halftime break.

The trend for the game continued, Titans started the third quarter strong and were quickly back to a double digit lead before Warriors clawed back. Unlike the first two frames, KIU regrouped and went into the fourth lead with a 13 points (65-52) lead.

Titans returned for the fourth with intention and stretched the lead to 18 (72-54) but took the back seat afterwards.

Warriors took full advantage and scored three unanswered baskets to force KIU coach Hamza Nyambogo call for time.

Even after the time out, Warriors still had the momentum and Ameny continued to glide through the key for easy stuff at the basket. The big man brought Warriors within 5 points (69-74).

The return of Chris Omanye from the locker room was a big welcome for Titans who where turning over on almost every possession. The point guard netted a couple of daggers that put Warriors to bed.
