Uganda cricket has named a squad of 15 players which represent the country in the Gahanga Inauguration Tournament due in Kigali next month.
The team is composed of players who have matured from the U19 set up and are awaiting for their senior call ups plus a few youngsters. National team talisman Roger Mukasa will captain the team, assisted by Brian Masaba.
U15 opening bowler Juma Miyagi gets a surprise call up for the trip and this is a reward for a fine season he has had with Nile and Mukono Parents School team.
The team will be handled by Steve Tikolo and his assistants Jackson Ogwang and Michael Ndiko.
The tournament which will run from October 22-26 is a lead up to the official opening of the Gahanga Cricket Stadium which will be the first of its kind in East and Central Africa.
The official opening of the stadium is slated for October 27 with a celebrity game between a Brian Lara XI and a Micheal Vaughan XI. Brian Lara is a cricket hall of famer from the West Indies while Micheal Vaughan is a former England Captain.
