After losing their home game 1-0 to Maroons, Bright Stars Football Club has lodged a complaint to the Uganda Premier League, questioning the eligibility of creative midfielder Ronald Kikonyogo.

The petition seen by Kawowo Sports was filed on Wednesday, 11th October 2017 (within the mandatory 48 hours) after the game played on Tuesday, 10th October 2017 at the Champions Stadium in Mwererwe.

In a communique to the league authorities, Bright Stars Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mathias Mugwanya seeks footballing justice pointing to the fact that the player in question, Kikonyogo was not licenced.

The petition was addressed to the CEO of the Uganda Premier League with copies to the Referees’ Standing Committee, Referees’ Manager, FUFA Competitions and the federation CEO Edgar Watson.

It reads in part;

Our manager, Ian Mutenda tried to protest the player’s inclusion but was barred by the fourth official…

We would be glad if our protest is taken into consideration based on the FUFA Competitions and UPL Rules of fielding an ineligible player who fails to present his licence for the match.

Felix Okot scored a stunning goal from over 35 yards as Maroons earned their first victory of the campaign.

The Uganda Premier League is expected to come up with a ruling within 48 hours.
