Africa Cricket Club’s worst nightmare came to haunt them this morning when Jinja SS failed to honour their fixture at Kyambogo.
There was rumour that Jinja SS wouldn’t honour the fixture and this was confirmed when the school communicated to UCA on Saturday night that they wouldn’t be able to travel for their game in Kampala.
Jinja SS plays most of its games at their home ground in Jinja and there was little chance they would honour the dead rubber in Kampala.
None the less ACC players made it to Kyambogo in the morning hoping Jinja SS would show up but with no match officials in sight, the writing was on the wall.
The points for a walk over awarded to ACC are not enough for them to go above Strikers in second place who will have one point more than them.
ACC is now resigned to another season in Division 2 after they were front runners for promotion for most of the season but a loss to Tornado derailed their progress and have been playing catch up to Premier and Strikers.
Premier are champions of Division 2 and together with Strikers they gain promotion to Division 1.
