Bridget Nabisalu scored directly from a corner kick as Ajax Queens overcame a hard fighting Muteesa I Royal University at the Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku on Saturday.
This was during the first official opening match of the 2017-18 FUFA Women Elite League.
Nabisalu beat Muteesa I Royal University’s goalkeeper Daisy Nakaziro at the near post directly from the corner kick on 40 minutes to give Michael Natima’s coached side the maximum points before a small crowd.
There were a number of goal scoring chances created though not converted by either sides.
Pacy winger cum forward Carol Nakyanzi would have easily bagged a personal hat-trick for Ajax Queens but she was not clinical on the day.
Muteesa I University’s chances fell to Sharon Namatovu, left footer Betty Namataka and pint sized second half substitute Janet Thungu.
The league returns on Sunday with four matches.
