Tornado B showed their class when they defeated Wanderers by 37 runs in their first game of the T20 season.
The team was missing services of Roger Mukasa and Charles Waiswa who were featuring for their Kenyan side Stray Lions but Deus Muhumuza stepped up scoring a useful 22 runs, picking up 2 key Wanderers wickets and taking a blinder of a catch in the field.
Wanderers set themselves up to defeat their arch enemy after having a good day in the field dismissing Tornado B for 93 but they couldn’t hold their nerve in pursuit of the small total losing Saul Kisikwe off the first ball.
Any partnership would have put Tornado B in trouble kept breaking as Wanderers kept losing wickets and Cyrus Kibuuka Musoke claimed a hat-trick cleaning up the tail.
At the Lugogo Oval, Challengers hit Nile for dead in the 50 Over league dismissing them for 24 all out in 7.3 Overs with speedstar David Wambwire claiming figures of 6/10.
Earlier Ivan Thawitemwira (52) helped Challengers post a competitive 224 after they were in early trouble but Nile wasn’t able to capitalize.
Challengers has one more league game against Charity before they can start defense of their T20 crown.
On Saturday at Lugogo, Mwiri defeated Avengers by 6 wickets. David Mwesigwa put in a Man of the Match performance with the ball as the spun webs around Avengers batsmen dismissing Avengers for 107.
David Mwesigwa was happy he could help his team win.
