Ismael Ortega believes he has got it all in the two-wheel-drive category and it’s time he upgraded to the four wheel drive (4WD) category.
Ortega has spent nine years of his rallying career in the 2WD category, claiming five drivers titles.
“I think 2WD class has given me all the experience I need for a much stronger car. I feel 2WD is no longer for me and I should leave it for others.
“I am very sure I can compete well in a bigger car. I see most people in 4WD car but lack experience to compete,” says Ortega.
The Chemsol and Jomayi sponsored driver is now opting for a Subaru Impreza N14.

However, Ortega can only reach his dream with the help of the rally fraternity.
He has organised a fundraising Sprint this Sunday 22nd October at Festino City, Mukono.
“We already got a Subaru N14. And deposited some money on it. I could not raise the balance by myself, that’s why I had to run to the stakeholders.
“If fans come in large numbers to support me this Sunday, I am sure we can cover the car and have it in Uganda very soon.
“I would like to appreciate all my sponsors, the federation, my fellow drivers, media houses and all those who have helped me organise the event. I wouldn’t manage by myself,” he said.
