Uganda’s rallying community has responded positively to Ismael Ortega’s call, offering more than just a helping hand towards his new goal.

The five-time two wheel drive (2WD) champion is in search of a Subaru Impreza N14 as he seeks to upgrade to the 4WD class.

Ortega has organised a fundraising event dubbed; ‘Tuli Majje sprint’ to raise money for the new car.

The sprint runs this Sunday 22 October at Festino City, Mukono. Over 40 drivers will take part in the sprint along with MX riders.

On top of participating, some drivers have contributed financially and in kind.

KG Rally Team driver, Musa Kabega offered the event trophies for all participants in the Tuli Majje sprint. Kabega also bought 50 tickets to be given out to fans.

“I needed to do this for Ortega and all the competitors who will participate in the event. I am Ortega’s fan and a friend. That is the only way I could support him,” said Kabega.

Other drivers who bought tickets include; Eddie Mukiibi, Musa Mulimira, Edwin Kalule, Abdul Kateete, Tim Gawaya among others.

“I do not know how best I can thank my fellow drivers. This event could not happen without them.

“I really appreciate everyone who has made an effort however small it is to have this sprint happen,” says Ortega.

Ortega, has been driving in the 2WD category since 2008.
