
Uganda Cranes captain and first choice goalkeeper Dennis Masinde Onyango is indeed enjoying his footballing career.
The Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper was named on the CAF Champions League team of the year for the second season in a row.
Alongside teammate Percy Tau, the gangly shot stopper makes the first team of the top performers for the season despite Mamelodi Sundowns failing to make the semifinal grade.
Hamdi Nagguez, Youssef Rabeh, Farouk Chafai, Ali Maaloul, Brahim Nekkach, Ben Amor Amine, Mohamed Ounajem, Tau, Moamenu Zakaria and Taha Yassine Khenessi complete the team.
Currently in the country for Uganda Cranes preparation ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier, Onyango is also the reigning Footballer of the Year (2017), based in Africa.
Onyango is also the reigning Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) Footballer of the Year and as well as the overall sportsman voted by the journalists.
The substitute players on the star studded team are; Zouhair Laaroubi, Ahmed Fathi, Hossam Ashour, Achraf Bencharki, Oussama Darfalou and Fousseny Coulibaly.
Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca won the 2017 CAF Champions League after overcoming Egypt’s Al Ahly 1-0 in the return leg of the final. Walid El Karty scored the winning goal as the Moroccoan side won 2-1 on aggregate.
Wydad pocketed a record $2.5 million and are guaranteed at least another $1 million by competing at the FIFA Club World Cup in the United Arab Emirates come December.
