Fred Amaku scored a stoppage minute goal as Kirinya-Jinja SSS beat Mbarara City 1-0 on Wednesday to return to winning ways.

The students were win-less in two having lost their previous two games, and it looked like they were headed for another disappointing result, but Amaku, signed from Paidha Black Angels, struck in the last minute of the game to give Charles Ayeikho’s side all the three points.

The striker was opening his account for his new club and what a way to do that.

With Proline holding URA at Namboole Stadium and with Maroons and Soana sharing spoils at Luzira, Kirinya-Jinja SSS rise three places up to seventh. The side now has 14 points picked up from nine games.

On the other hand, Mbarara City, whose wait for an away win continues remain glued twelfth in the table standings.

They’d be seated in the relegation zone by now but wins against to Bul and Express ensured they remain two points and as many places above the red line.

Up next for the side is a home fixture against bottom side UPDF on Saturday.

Ayeikho takes his charges to the Green Light Stadium where a duel with wounded Onduparaka awaits over the weekend.
