URA Football Club coach Ibrahim Kirya was pleased with a point from the game against Proline.
The tax collectors played to a 1-1 draw with Proline in the Uganda Premier League at Namboole thanks to Denis Kamanzi who came off the bench to cancel Sula Matovu’s sublime finish on Wednesday evening.
“If we are talking football, in all honesty I’m pleased for the point earned because at some stage the game was out of our control,” Kirya told Kawowo Sports.
The attacking midfield trio of Brian Majwega, Shafiq Kagimu and Peter Lwasa barely created any chances for strikers Bokota Labama and Henry Kisekka throughout the game and the lack of creativity did not go unnoticed by the former SC Villa and Lweza coach.
“The creativity only started after conceding. Today our creative players did not do enough,” he said.
“You can cut him (Kisekka) some slack because he got just one real chance and his position at the time was not good.”
On three occasions in the second half, Proline winger Sula Matovu easily beat Sam Sekitto and on the third time he broke free to slide the ball past Alionzi Nafian for the visitors opener.
Kirya reacted by withdrawing Sekitto for Charles Sempa and Majwega moved to left back. Asked if the change was because of a defensive hauler, the coach said: “We needed bodies upfront because we had conceded not necessarily because he (Sekitto) was beaten in the build up to the goal.
“We conceded a goal we would have avoided because the reaction of the defenders was slow.”
Next up for URA is a Namboole battle against Police on Saturday, November 18.
