His majesty the King of Buganda Kingdom, Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II will grace the final football match of the 2017 Bika Bya Baganda tournament at Bukalasa play ground in Wobulenzi, Luweero.

Defending champions of the Bika Bya Baganda football championship Nte has a chance to retain their crown if they defeat Ffumbe in the anticipated cracker.

Ffumbe’s head coach Edward Golola believes his side will smile to their third championship in as many years.

This year, we look set to win the Bika football crown. We have had a good journey along the way.

The strength of my team is up front where we have Derrick Nsibambi, Hood Kaweesa and Solomon Walusimbi

On the other hand, Nte’s head tactician, John Kayanja expects to build on the strong defence as they look for the much needed result to defend their crown.

We have a balance team but the exceptional display of my defence is the building point

Road to success:

Over two months ago, Nte overcame Lugave 2-0 to reach the finals, after progressing 2-1 on aggregate.

URA left winger Peter Lwasa and Herbert Katongole were on target for the descendants of Katongole.

The other semi final contest was decided when Mpindi edged Ffumbe 1-0 in the second leg (Baker Mbowa scored for Mpindi).

The result though was not good enough to over turn the earlier 2-1 loss in the first leg.

Ffumbe, also winners in 1960, 2005 and lately 2009 thus progressed on away goal’s rule.

Nte who pipped Balangira to the crown last year have a chance to defend the title when they play Ffumbe in the much awaited final.

Nte has won the Bika Bya Baganda football title twice in 2010 and 2016.

The final game will be played at the Bukalasa playground in Luwero.

Semi-final results (Second leg):

  • Lugave 0-2 Nte (Agg: 1-2)
  • Ffumbe 0-1 Mpindi (Agg: 2-2)
