- Power 66-75 Warriors
In the yester-years, Power versus Warriors in November would be a National Basketball League finals game.
In 2017, the two sides could only face each other in a third place playoff game and Warriors got the better of their old time rivals on Sunday night.
Warriors had a strong start and led 11-2 mid midway the quarter but through Isaac Afidra, Francis Kasinde and Fahmy Sebatindira, Power quickly wiped out the deficit. However, Ceasar Kizito and Jude Ochen combined to give Warriors a 21-16 lead at the end of the quarter.
Deep in the second, Paul Odong put Power in the lead with a couple of throws but Syrus Kiviiri knocked down a 3-pointer and added a pair of throws to give Warriors a 2-point (37-35) lead at halftime.
While Warriors opened significant leads in the third quarter, Power almost immediately closed them out and only trailed by three points (49-52) heading into the final quarter.
Warriors started the final quarter with an 11-2 run to take their lead to double figure inside three minutes.
Power tried to rally but it was too little too late.
Ceasar Kizito scored team high 17 points to pace Warriors. Jude Ochen scored 14 while Daniel Gaki chipped in with 11 points.
Michael Makiadi’s game 18 points and 7 boards were in a losing effort and so were Sebatindira’s 12 points.
