The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) president Moses Magogo has urged sports journalists to be agents of change in the jurisdiction of their respective tasks at hand.

Magogo made the remarks as he officiated on day one of the first ever FUFA Media Course at the federation Technical Center in Njeru near Jinja.

“The media is an important pillar of the development process of football in Uganda. Media is a key stake holder in this process, playing the informative, watch dog and educative roles among others. At the same time, media should be agents of positive change,” he said.

The first ever FUFA Media course started on Wednesday with over 45 sports journalists in attendance.

According to the FUFA Communications director, Ahmed Hussein, the course is further looked at to provide insightful perspectives of better football reporting in Uganda.

“This course will be useful to either parties – FUFA and the media industry. Everyday is a learning process. The media will generate more positive ideas on reporting about football. The federation and the media are inter-twined entities.”

Sports reporters, photo journalists, radio, Television and senior editors as well as invited journalists from each of the 8 FUFA regions (Eastern, Northern, West Nile, North East, Buganda, Kitara, Western and Kampala) are part of this residential course that combines theory and practical sessions.
