After enduring three successive losses, City Oilers have finally registered their first win at the 2017 FIBA Africa Champions Cup.

The Ugandan side defeated New Generation of the Democratic Republic of Congo 81-60 on Friday morning, thanks to a strong offensive performance.

Robinson Odoch’s knocked down a couple of 3s as Oilers started the game with an 8-0 run and the Zone V champions took the first quarter 23-13.

New Generation crawled back into the game in the second quarter wiping out the deficit as the four-time Ugandan champions had a nearly five minutes scoring drought before Odoch made a normal two followed by a long 3 from Stanley Ocitti as Oilers lwent on a 16-7 run to close the quarter leading 39-31.

Oilers went on to dominate the second half enroute the blow out win, their first at the tournament.

A win against Kano Pillars tomorrow will send the Ugandan side into the quarter finals on their second attempt.

Odoch scored game high 23 points, Jordin Mayes added 16 points and Ocitti had 11 points while Lleon Tilman picked 10 rebounds to go with 6 points.

Emmanuel Isungu and Jonathan Cathey Macklin led New Generation with 15 points apiece.

City Oilers will face Kano Pillars tomorrow with a quarter finals place at stake while New Generation will play AS Sale.
