Dominic Otuchet will steer the Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF) for the third consecutive term in office until December 2022.

The Amuria district delegate was elected unopposed as he is set to embark on yet another 4 year tenure since 2010 when he took over from Daniel Tamwesigire.

This followed a largely tranquil elective assembly held at the head offices of Uganda Olympic Committee on Saturday morning.

The assembly, as mandated by the constitution was held in accordance with the statures of the constitution of Uganda Athletics Federation from the time the last elective assembly had been held on 22nd January 2014.

Eight three (83) out of the 90 expected delegates attended the assembly whose elections were presided over by city lawyer, Kenneth Kitakiro, also the Chief Executive Officer of Africa Alliance.

This elective assembly was also attended by the General Secretary, National Council of Sports (NCS) as well as the Vice President of the Uganda Olympic Committee (also the president of Uganda Swimming Federation), Dr. Don Rukare.

In his acknowledgement speech, Otuchet hailed God and the delegates for his victory.

He vowed to maintain the good deeds and as well, clean up the grey areas.

This is a fresh dawn for me. I thank God because all leadership comes from God.

I also thank the delegates that entrusted me with the power and authority.

It is time to consolidate what has been achieved and at the same time to perfect what went amess in the previous term.

Under Otuchet’s second term, the successful bidding to host 2017 IAAF World Cross Country Championships at Kololo ceremonial independence play grounds will remain the highlight of his regime thus far.

He however hinted on the strategic plan which included among other aspects of training more coaches, build the federation home, construct regional training centers, empowerment of regions as well as improved close relations with the media fraternity.

Training of more coaches will be a key priority in this term of office that i am undertaking.

Great athletes are made by good coaches
