Nigeria required a late goal in extra time to condemn Angola 2-1 during a quarter final clash at the 2018 CHAN tournament in Tangier city, Morocco on Sunday night.

Second half substitute Gabriel Okechukwu scored a 108th minute winner for Nigeria as the Super Eagles rallied from behind to beat a resilient Angola side.

The Eagles responded with Atuloma releasing a fierce shot just over the goal from distance and Gabriel Okechukwu’s header bouncing against the foot of the post with 15 minutes of normal time remaining.

Okpotu finished off Rabiu Ali’s header past Landu to draw Nigeria level to send the game into extra time.Okechukwu secured Nigeria a place in Wednesday’s semi-final in Marrakech against Sudan with an solo effort drifting infield from the right skipping away from a couple of Angola challenges before firing low past Landu to win it.

Meanwhile, Libya progressed after overcoming Congo 5-3 on post match penalties.

Normal time had ended all square at one goal apiece before the extra thirty minutes failed to produce a clear cut winner.

Nigeria joins hosts Morocco, CECAFA representative Sudan and Libya in the semi finals of the tournament that only accommodates locally based players in the respective leagues on the African continent.
