Utility player Simon Okwi is close for a return to his former club Soana Football Club.

This follows successful talks held with the club director cum manager, Smart Obed on Monday.

In an exclusive interview with Kawowo Sports at his Nakasero based offices on Monday, a jovial Obed disclosed the news of having Okwi back at the club he once served with due passion and diligence

We have agreed on everything and we welcome Okwi back home.

Soana Football Club is his home.

The sign on fees and monthly payments have been agreed upon. We shall have in our early morning training on Tuesday (30th January 2018)

Okwi expressed the urge and willingness to re-join Soana after a frustrating first round at Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) football club.

It is good to return home.

I am more than ready to play and contribute to the team development. I discussed my issues with URA and they agreed to release me.

The former Sports Club Victoria University and Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) player first served at Soana following his 4th January 2016 move from Jinja side, BUL F.C.

Okwi then left Soana for Kenya outfit Sofapaka before he returned home to join Uganda Revenue Authority (URA).

Limited playing time at the tax collectors’ side has definitely forced the center forward cum midfielder to seek his release despite a year and a half time span left on his employment contract.

Soana is also in close negotiations with another center forward Petit Wanok and a left attacker, Bruno Sserunkuma ahead of the January 31st 2018 secondary transfer window.

Alex Isabirye’s coached side progressed to the round of 32 in the FUFA Uganda Cup after a convincing 3-0 away victory to Ntoda in Ntungamo on Sunday.

Baker Buyala, Abdallah Nyanzi and Steven Ategeka were on target for Soana.
