Deus Muhumuza returned the best figures for the national team in a T20 game when he picked 6/28 in his 4 overs.
The Qatar Presidents XI was in cruise control until captain Roger Mukasa turned to Muhumuza whose medium pacers dried up the runs for the Qatari select side.
The Presidents XI managed to crawl to a respectable 131/8 with Nafees (31) and Waleed (31) the top scores for the select side.
Deus Muhumuza was supported by veteran Frank Nsubuga who was his usual mean self with figures of 1/11 and Irfan Afridi (1/27) took the only other wicket.
In the chase, Roger Mukasa (33) and Zephaniah Arinaitwe (27) shared an opening stand of 56 inside 8 overs before the captain was trapped LBW. Even though Uganda had kept with the asking rate the dismissals of both openers slowed down the chase.
Uganda had too much work to do in the last 5 overs needing 55 runs off 30 balls. Debutant Lloyd Paternnot (16) and Hamu Kayondo (23) tried but the task at hand proved too much.
Uganda fell short by 13 runs and will face the senior Qatar side in their next game on Saturday.
