- CNaPS Sport 2-1 KCCA FC

KCCA Football Club got their 2018 CAF Champions League campaign underway with a 2-1 defeat to CNaPS Sport at Vontovorona Stadium.
Ratolojanahary Fenosoa’s second half penalty cancelled Derrick Nsibambi’s strike before Francis Rafaralahy’s added time goal sealed the win for the hosts in the first leg of the preliminary round tie in Madagascar capital Antananarivo.
The Ugandan league champions got the first real chance of game with Muhammad Shaban missing from close range after good work from Julius Poloto before Mustapha Kizza’s free kick was parried away by Andriamalala Andoniaina.
Haja Mirija Fortunat had CNaPS Sport’s first chance at goal but Timothy Awany made a last ditch tackled to deny the hosts.
Derrick Nsibambi found the net for the Kasasiro just over the 20th minute mark but his goal was disallowed for offside.
Milison Niasexe had a penalty shout waived by the referee before Charles Lukwago gathered Tobisao’s cross as the Madagascar side increased raids at KCCA’s goal.
As halftime approached, Timothy Awany had a couple of headers from corners. The first smashed the cross bar before Fenosoa Ratolojanahary cleared while the second was parried away by goalie Andoniaina.
After the break, Allan Okello paved way for Paul Mucureezi in KCCA’s first change of the game and it was not long before visitors broke the deadlock. Derrick Nsibambi put the Kasasiro in the lead after good work from wing-back Julius Poloto.
However, it took hosts just seven minutes to draw level. Filbert Obenchan handled the ball in the area and Fenosoa Ratolojanahary made no mistake from 12 yards.
Shaban got into the referees book before Sadam Juma was introduced for Lawrence Bukenya in the final ten minutes of the game.
Denis Okot replaced Muhammad Shaban with five minutes to play as manager Mike Mutebi seemed contented with the scoreline but the Ugandans could not hold on to the draw as the hosts got the winner in added time courtesy of Francis Rafaralahy.
The return leg will be played in at the StarTimes Stadium in Kampala in ten days time.
