Former Rwanda Amavubi Stars star player Olivier Karekezi has resigned his position as the head coach at Rayon Sport Football Club.
As quoted by Ruhagoyacu, Karekezi is believed to have left Rwanda for Sweden a few hours after his side’s loss to APR.
Karekezi was appointed by 2017 Rwanda Premier League champions on July last year.
Rayon Sport General Secretary, Bernard Itangishaka noted;
We need official communication from Karekezi. In the meantime, assistant coach Jeannot Witakenge will be in charge of the team
It is not true, we were happy with him because his performance was not bad. We have not talked to him yet, but if he returns we can sit with him and see what to do next.
We play well, but the scoring is a big problem, it was too early to judge him because we are still in contention in every competition
There are reports that he had handed a resignation letter citing the latest saga involving match fixing claims.
Meanwhile, assistant coach Jeannot Witakenge and goalkeeping coach Ramadhan Nkunzingoma are the two interim coaches in charge.
