2016 UMEA solidarity games winner (boys football category), Masaka Secondary School (also known as Aga Khan) will face Kibuli S.S in the semi finals of the 2018 edition at the Maluku sports ground in the mountainous Mbale town on Monday morning.

This clash was confirmed at the draws of the tournament held on Sunday night at Nkoma S.S staff room following the successful completion of the quarter finals played under rainny conditions in the evening.

Herbert Wasswa and Richard Ssonko were both on target for Masaka S.S in their 2-0 quarter final win against Nakifuma Modern.

On their other hand, Kibuli S.S outwitted Kawempe Muslim 3-1 on a slippery Maluku play ground.

Talisman Umar Kyebatala scored twice and KCCA FC Junior team top scorer Sadat Anaku added the other as Kibuli S.S progressed.

Asaf Ssegujja netted the consolation for a 10 man Kawempe Muslim side. Uzaifa Yahaya was red carded for Kawempe Muslim for unsporting conduct.

“We are ready for the semi final clash. It remains a close contest but we know how to handle such games” Masaka S.S games teacher cum coach, Meddie Matovu noted.

Meanwhile, hosts Nkoma S.S were ejected by Bulo Parents 1-0 while defending champions Kasawo fell 1-0 to Mbale Progressive.

Kasawo will battle Mbale Progressive in the other semi-final to be played at Mbale Municipal Stadium.

Relatedly, in girls’ football, Kawempe Muslim will lock horns with Masaka S.S in the final slated for mid-day at the Mbale Municipal Stadium.

The games which kicked off on Good Friday will climax at Mbale Municipal Stadium on Easter Monday afternoon with the finals of the boy’s football, speeches before the awarding of certificates, medals and trophies.

Football (boys and girls), netball, handball (boys and boys), Table Tennis (Boys and Girls) and Volleyball (Boys and Girls) are the games being played at this annual championship, now making 21 years since inception in 1997.
