Hoima based Kitara Football Club defeated visiting Simba 4-1 at the Boma play ground during a Rwenzori group encounter of the FUFA Big league on Thursday.

Forward Herbert Billy ‘Counsel’ Alinda led the assault with a brace in the match.

Rogermiller Ahumuza and Derrick Tekkwo scored the other two goals to grab the maximum points, keeping alive their hopes of securing a direct promotional slot to the Uganda Premier League.

Kitara has now accumulated 34 points off 18 matches as they displaced Kira United in second place.

Mark Twinamatisko’s coached Kira United fell 1-0 at home to Mbarara based Nyamityobora (coached by James Odoch) on the same day.

Defender Musa Docca headed home the lone strike off a great corner kick delivery from left winger Alex ‘Koma’ Komakech.

Nyamitybora leads the Rwenzori group with 42 points off 19 matches.

Meanwhile, Ntinda United suffered a humiliating 3-2 home loss to Kabale Sharp at the Kamwokya Kataka play ground in Kampala.

Greater Masaka United overcame visiting Sun City 1-0 at the Masaka Recreational Stadium as the Kireka United against Kansai Plascon encounter at Namboole outside play ground failed to produce any goal.

In the Elgon group, Ndejje University ascended to the league summit, after winning 6-0 against Moyo based Vura in a one sided duel at the Ndejje University play ground in Luwero.

Former Jinja Municipal Council (JMC) Hippos striker Anwar Ntege and Isaac Muyanja each netted a brace in the match.

Bernad Katgenera, Peter Ouma and Simon Nkole completed the rout.

Ndejje University is now top of the Elgon group table standings with 33 points from 19 games, a point better of West Nile side Paidha Black Angels who have a game in hand.

Meanwhile, Paidha Blacka Angels was held by lowly Lira United during a four goal thriller at the Lira Town College play ground.

In the other Elgon matches, Agape defeated visiting Busia Fisheries 2-0 at the Agape S.S play ground in Namutumba District.

Bukedea Town Council and Kataka Football Club shared the spoils in a one all stalemate.

The Big League will resume on Sunday with one game as Bumate hosts Water in Bundibujo district.

Promotion and demotion:

Three clubs will be promoted to the top tier league at the end of the season.

The top placed club per group (Elgon and Rwenzori) qualifies directly with the third team determined via a promotional play off.

The second and third placed clubs per groups qualify for the play-off.

Nine clubs shall be relegated to the respective regional leagues.

Five will be relegated from the Elgon group and four in the Rwenzori group.
