
Emily Nanziri and Leni Shida’s road the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games medal podium ended on Tuesday at Carrara Stadium.
The two Ugandan sprinters bowed out of the Women’s 400m medal chase after finishing 6th and 8th in their respective semifinals.
Despite running a Season Best 54.10, Nanziri who ran in lane 2 was 3 seconds behind winner Anastasia Le-Roy who also ran a Season Best 51.08.
Games record holder over the distance, Amantle Montstho (Botswana) also qualified for the final with 51.26.
Meanwhile, another Ugandan Lina Shida came last in her semifinal. Running in lane 8, she crossed the finish line in 54.50.
Jamaican, Stephenie McPherson won the semifinal in 51.21 to advance to the final alongside Christine Botlogetswe.
Nanziri and Shida were the last Ugandans to take the track at the Gold Coast games.
