Uganda National women’s football team – the Crested Cranes – kicked off their preparations for the upcoming CECAFA Women Championship.

20 of the 28 summoned players attended the Wednesday double training session at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

Head coach Faridah Bulega told the federation website the eight players missed the Wednesday sessions for academic reasons;

I’m missing eight of my players because of the academic engagements. I received communications from them and I allowed them time to concentrate as I will receive them after their exams

Training continues today at Namboole with a double session.

The CECAFA Women Championship is scheduled for May 12-20, 2018 at Stade De Kigali in Rwanda.

Players who attended Tuesday sessions

Goalkeepers: Nakazilo Daisy (Muteesa I Royal University), Namakula Gloria (Ajax Queens), Nakiguba Cissy (Kampala Queens), Ruth Aturo, (UCU Lady Cardinals)

Defenders: Namudu Viola (She Mak), Namukisa Aisha (Kampala Queens), Nabisaalu Bridget (Ajax Queens)

Midfielders: Reticia Nabossa (Gokelum Kelara), Phiona Nabbumba (Ajax Queens), Tracy Akiror Jones (Kawempe Muslim), Winnie Babirye (Kampala Queens), Mutuzo Lilian (Taggy HS), Shakira Mutiibwa(Gafford Ladie), Sheebah Zalwango (Gafford ladies).

Strikers: Hasifah Nassuna (UCU Lady Cardinals), Meble Kusasira (Kampala Queens), Fazila Ikwaput (Gokelum Kelara), Favour Nambatya(Muteesa I Royal University), Resty Nanziri (Taggy HS), Zainah  Namuleme (Kampala Queens).
