Pre-tournament favourites Buddo Secondary School continued with their impressive run at the on-going 2018 Copa Coca Cola football championship in Mbarara.

Simon Peter Mugerwa’s coached charges brushed aside host school, Mbarara High 3-0 during one of the early morning round of 16 games played at the Kakyeka stadium on Wednesday.

Emmanuel Loki scored once and Abu Kajabangu got a brace as Buddo S.S marched on for the quarter finals where they face Kigezi High School.

“We shall not rest until we win the championship. It has been long overdue. My players are calm and well aware of the mission at stake” Mugerwa, who manages a star studded side told Kawowo Sports.

Blessed Sacrament Kimanya overcame Ryakasinga CHE 1-0, Agape eliminated Jinja Progressive Academy (JIPRA) and defending champions Jinja S.S recovered from a goal down to out-muscle Hill View College.

In the afternoon matches, there were shocks when 8 time champions St Mary’s Kitende bowed out 6-5 on post-match penalties to lowly Lira Town College.

Normal time of this match had ended goal-less.

Dan Ssegawa’s coach St Julian Gayaza ejected Kampala region champions Old Kampala S.S 5-6 in penalties after a goal-less stalemate in normal time.

St Julian will now face Masaka region representatives, Blessed Sacrament Kimanya in the early morning game of the quarter finals at 10 am.

Welden High School, one of the two only remaining schools from the Ankole region progressed for the quarter finals after a dramatic 16-15 penalty shoot-out victory against Mukono based Hands of Grace.

The other Ankole based school, Kigezi High overcame St Paul 2-0.

The quarter finals will be played on Thursday.
