Celebrated administrator Ivan Kakembo is the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club.
Kakembo, the founder and country director at Uganda Youth Soccer Academy put pen to paper on a one year renewable employment contract at the tax collectors’ side.
His appointment had been confirmed by the URA FC board meeting that convened on the 26th October 2018.
I am so happy to join URA Football Club and being under URA as an institution is a great honor. I am so confident because I come here with great expertise in football management both locally and internationally which I believe will give us as a club an edge in Ugandan football today. I expect to lobby for the club’s growth and also deliver a new brand of URA FC to ensure the success of the club is unmatched. FUFA president Moses Magogo always tells me that when you serve football, your contributions are always noticed!!! I would like to thank the management of URA football club for choosing me to serve football as their new club CEO a position I feel I have all the needed expertise to steer the club to the next level in the mighty name and also to my wife and kids for the support and letting me share my time with football, federation of Uganda football associations for all the football education and my boss MMJ Ben Immanuel Misagga for empowering me and all his support to my service in football, Ali ssekatawa for the mentor-ship and my entire family and all members of the fourth Estate your dear to me, One team One Dream.
Kakembo, who has previously served in the same position at Sports Club Villa and lately Nyamityobora was officially introduced to the media at the URA Nakawa based offices in Kampala on Sunday.
He replaces Edward Kulubya who resigned from the position before Bridget Nakayenga took over in care taker position.
Addressing the media, URA FC chairman James Kizza promised to offer overwhelming support to Kakembo and the entire team;
URA FC is excited to bring on board Ivan Kakembo as the Chief Executive Officer. His vast knowledge of the game and administrative skills will be crucial to the team building process. We promise to offer him the necessary support required.
Relatedly, the club officially unveiled St Catherine Hospital as the medical partners.
“We are glad to be part of this great team. We believe that when the team is healthy, then the results will be good too” Lawrence Omuntu, the healthy facility PRO noted.
About URA FC:
The club was founded in 1997. In 2000, it merged with Lyantonde Football Club.
They have won the Uganda Premier League on four occasions in 2006, 2006/7, 2008/9 and lately 2010/11 with one runners up slot in 2012/13.
URA FC has triumphed thrice in the Uganda Cup (2005, 2011/12 and 2013/14) with three runners up positions in 2000, 2008/09 and 2010/11.
They have also represented the country regionally in the CECAFA club cup and on the continent in the CAF Champions and confederation cup.
Twice, URA FC finished as runners up in 2007 and 2008 in the Kagame cup.
