Two UEFA B licence holders Marco Bracco and Roberto Morrisine attached to Italian top tier club Unione Calcio Sampdoria, commonly known as Sampdoria are in Uganda for a training opportunity with young talented players aged six to sixteen years of age.

The experienced coaches are in the country on invitation of Excellent Sports Company for a training camp tagged ‘International Samp Camp’.

The first official session was graced by at least 40 youngsters in the different age brackets.

This was held on Monday, 7th January 2019 at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

The session was opened by Sseninde Ssebagala from the Buganda Government in the department of finance.


Each of the participants pays $ 320 to engage in the programme with the two excelling players rewarded with a trip to Genoa, Italy for an international camp, free of charge. There will also be two try-outs for elite players at a fee of $50 with benefits of being exposed to embark on a professional career in countries as Italy, Spain, France and Germany.

From Tuesday, 8th January 2019, the training sessions will be held at Legends Rugby Grounds before the trial sessions commence on Friday.

For starters, Unione Calcio Sampdoria is an Italian association football club based in Genoa, playing itself in the top tier league of the country.

The Ugandan youngsters will be expected to learn a lot from Marco Bracco and Morrisine whose experience is crucial.

Each of the players in this camp is given a full kit from Sampdoria and a ball.

Four of the excelling players will make the grade to Genoa, Italy for further exposure and assessment.

    This is a pay to play scheme with middlemen cheating youngsters.
