Ten man SC Villa threw away a two goal lead to draw 2-2 with Police FC in a thrilling match played at StarTimes stadium, Lugogo.

Charles Lwanga and Bashir Mutanda scored in either half before Juma Balinya scored twice to earn the hosts a point.

Police started well pinning the Jogoos in their half but were twice denied when goalkeeper Yusuf Wasswa saved from Ronald Nyanzi and Ruben Kimera.

At the opposite end, Mutanda and Ibrahim Mugulusi shot wide when presented with opportunities before Pius Wanji tested Davis Mutebi with a long range effort from free kick.

The deadlock was broken on the half hour mark when Lwanga headed home from close range.

Sadat Kyambadde throw in was cleared by Mutebi and it fell to Ashraf Mandela who raced down the right and crossed in the area, Lwanga then met the ball inside the six yard and headed into the net.

From hero to villain

It took a minute for the young forward to turn into villain when he got marching orders for a bad tackle on Paul Willa.

Centre referee Shamirah Nabadda first dished out a yellow card to the forward but moments later as Willa was being treated, she had a chat with a fourth official and went for red.

With a man down, the visitors resorted to sitting back and attacking on the break but were fortunate to go into break with a lead as Balinya and Nyanzi efforts were saved.

A minute into the second half, SC Villa extended their lead from a penalty after a counter attacking move saw Pius Wangi cross into the area and Mutanda went down under a challenge from Ibrahim Kibumba.

The big forward sent the ball into the roof of the net for his 10th goal of the season.

Abdallah Mubiru then withdrew Samuel Kayongo for Ashraf Mugume as the Cops searched for goals with Villa sitting back.

Balinya got the desired goal in the 51st minute after beating Lincoln Mukisa and Moses Kiggundu with ease inside the area.

Douglas Bamweyana introduced defensive midfielder Amir Kakomo, later Moses Kitabalwa also came on for attackers Albert Mugisa and Mugulusi respectively to thwart Police attacks.

They had chances to kill off the game on the counter with David Owori shooting straight at the goalie while Mutanda failed to beat his last man when played through.

The misses were punished at the other end as Balinya slotted home from Kibumba cross and the visitors were saved by a post minutes later when Derrick Kakooza who had replaced Nyanzi headed the ball with Wasswa beaten.

At the end of the day, the two teams shared spoils that see Police moves to 21 points and 7th on the log while SC Villa improve one place with 14 points in 12th position.
