After expressing their disappointments with the way the local Motorsport is currently managed, Motorsport Africa Club (MOSAC) is now pursuing for a constitutional amendment.

The club’s proposed amendments were received by the FMU General Secretary within the required time to send in proposals prior to the Annual General Meeting.

The Motorsport governing body is scheduled to hold its Annual General Meeting this Saturday.

MOSAC is seeking to change the term of office for the Executive Committee from four to two years.

“The term of the executive committee shall be and not exceed two years from the election of the executive committee,” reads part of the document.

Article 14.3 of the FMU constitution was last amended in 2016, extending the term of office for the executive from two years to four years.

Recent management of Motorsport in the country has raised concern about governance of the sport.

Competitors that Kawowo Sport spoke to suggested that revisiting the clause would make good for the local Motorsport governance.

“Four years is a disaster. Motorsport is not a national government and it doesn’t need so much time to implement changes.

“It’s just not right. When we wrote the first constitution, we said the first year was for creation, and second for consolidation,” said Moses Matovu, a member of MOSAC.

Aaron Nsamba, a competitor added his thoughts to the proposal.

“We thought four years was a good idea at first. But in the end we see that people are misusing their longer stay in office.

“The primary reason for the four year term was to give enough time for office bearers to contribute to the sport.

“But if it’s misused then no need to have that long. It’s also nowhere in the FIA statutes that ASNs should have a four year term,” he asserted.

Joe Burua too shared his credibility of the proposed amendment.

“Four years is actually a good period for proper managent only if annual targets are set, monitored and delivered.

“It’s just that this current administration has failed us. But if the electorate was sober and result oriented, should vote them out. I still believe 4 year term is ok with good functioning systems,” he asserted.

However, MOSAC will have to give their deliberations on the proposal during the annual meeting.

Another proposed amendment was the renaming of the management committee. The proposal seeks to substitute the sub governing body with the executive committee.

This will imply that all powers of the management committee will be given to the executive committee that will make the overrall final decisions in the federation.

The amendment is sighted to avoid prolonged decision making.

But ahead of Saturday’s meeting, the executive committee must vote on whether the proposals must feature on the annual general meeting agenda or not.

  1. Greetings to Motorsport fraternity, from EMC member. At first we thought 4yrs in office could serve better, but envetually didn’t work. even at club levels. Emc has not called for any Agm for 2yrs,we don’t even sit in our weekly meetings as per our constitution which means that the Executive committee is incompetent without any accountability to the sport. Why can’t such leaders resign for the good of the sport.. EMC has lost it’s Glory of organising the most loved event in up country and Uganda as a Whole. Emc was burned for 1 yr but we lost 2events and no burn letter was delivered to the club.. Those are the few hints, but I have many to tell that you will even sympatherize EMC under a messed up leadership
