Ghana took advantage against Uganda from the first leg of the final qualification round of the U20 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The Black Princesses needed to dig deep to overcome a resilient Uganda outfit, coming from a goal down to win 2-1 at Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Queen Cranes captain Agnes Nabukenya gave Uganda a first half lead but Ghana rallied back to score twice in the second half through su substitutes Priscilla Mensah and Latifah Abesik.

Nabukenya fired Uganda into the lead in the 32nd minute with her looping strike beating Belinda Maku in Ghana’s goal.

However, Ghana returned recharged after the break making several changes upon restart.

Indeed the substitutions brought new energy and Mensah was able to level matters in the 56th minute heading home from a free kick.

Five minutes from time, Ghana took the lead through Abesik and eventually held on to claim advantage in the tie.

The two teams will face off in the return leg on Saturday at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba with the winner on aggregate qualifying to the World Cup.
