In a bid to beef up their squad ahead of the long-anticipated second round, Uganda’s record Premier League champions SC Villa has officially unveiled 13 new players.

The ceremony to unveil the players took place at the club’s training base, at Villa Park, Nsambya in Kampala on Thursday.

The new players on board include goalkeeper Saidi Keni, Asuman Alishe, Ramathan Yakubu, John Adriko, Sulaiman Majanjalo, Benson Muhindo, Ronald Magwali, Brian Amwine, Hamdan Nsubuga, James Mukasa, Emmanuel Kalyowa, Rahman Ashaba and Peter Dusman.

The unveiling ceremony was graced by a large section of loyal fans, the club’s interim executive as well the technical team.

Keni joins the 16 time record league champions from Proline and will don shirt 1.

Central defender Alishe makes a return to the Jogoos after the expiry of his employment contract with Western Uganda based club, Mbarara City. Alishe will put on shirt 51.

Hard tackling midfielder Sulaiman Majaanjalo also returns to the Douglas Bamweyana’s coached side and will don shirt 8.

Another central defender Yakubu signs from Zambia top flight side, Lusaka Dynamos and signs for shirt 4.

Like Alishe and Majaanjalo, Emmanuel Kalyowa is also a returning entity at SC Villa. Kalyowa has been at Tooro United and was assigned shirt 5.

Ronald Magwali has been signed from Beach Soccer side Kabalagala Rangers and was given shirt 9.

Brian Amwine (shirt 24) and Ashaba (shirt 13) is from Makerere University and Kyambogo University respectively.

Hamdan Nsubuga (shirt 6) whilst Benson Muhindo was handed shirt 16.

James Mukasa, shirt 2 was recruited from Big League side Entebbe, South Sudanese Peter Dusman completed the new signings. Dusman will wear shirt number 17.

Meanwhile, young striker Charles Lwanga has been elevated from the junior ranks to the senior team.

Released:

The club has released a wide range of players from forward Ajab Abdulrahman, Manco Kaweesa, Amir Kakomo, Yusuf Mukisa, Edgar Luzige, left back Robert Kitabalwa and goalkeeper Brian Bwete.

The club head coach Bamweyana anticipates a great second round with the additions.

On Saturday, SC Villa will face URA FC at Mandela National Stadium.
