Shafik Batambuze featured for Gor Mahia as they won 4-2 against Egypt’s Zamalek at Moi International stadium, Kasarani.
The Ugandan international was pivotal more so in the lead up to the second goal as Rwanda international Jacques Tuyisenge bagged a brace.
Besides Tuyisenge, Gor Mahia’s other goal scorers were Nicholas Kipkirui and Denis Oliech.
The first half ended with both sides tied at 2-2 but the Kenyan side were better after the break.
Kipkirui scored a couple of minutes into the second half before his substitute, veteran Oliech finished off the Egyptians with a goal in the 90th minute as Gor moved top of Group D with three points.
In the same group, NA Hussein Dey of Algeria hosts Angola’s Petro de Luanda later on Sunday.
