Samuel Watendwa heads into the third round of the National Rally Championship this weekend determined to extend his lead at the top of the Two-Wheel Drive (2WD) category.
Watendwa, in his Toyota FX, has secured podium finishes (second position) in the previous two events which have assured him of the category lead.
Another podium finish will be Watendwa’s focus in Masaka.
“We know the 2WD title battle is so tight. Everyone is targeting the win this weekend.
“But like before, our priority is to finish the event. But now we need to focus on the podium to get maximum points for the title chase,” said Watendwa.

Watendwa believes the Masaka stages will aid his weekend’s target.
“The stages are really good just the way I would want them. They really need a driver to open up with those stretches and tights. They will help us make some good times.”
Watendwa currently has 30 points; 10 more than second-placed Godfrey Nsereko and Fred Ssenkumba.
The Bwaise based driver has tightened every nut and bolt on his car.
“Its exciting to know that some fans out there really wish us well. I want to thak them all and also my sponsors who have really helped get the car back in shape. I promise to make it up to them with a better performance,” he added.
